§ 114-141. Compensation upon recognized special certification.

(1)
Upon obtaining a recognized specialized certification, a sworn member of police or
fire shall be entitled to receive a salary increase of three percent. The chief of
police, the chief of fire and the chief of corrections shall have discretion to determine
which specialized certifications are recognized for each respective department. The
chief of police and the chief of fire will submit a list of all professional certifications
that will have a pay implication to the commissioner of human resources for approval
at the beginning of each fiscal year.
(2)
Upon obtaining a promotion to a higher rank, a sworn member of police or fire shall
be entitled to receive a salary increase of at least five percent, with a maximum
of ten percent.
