§ 74-609. Maintenance of litter receptacles and placement of litter.
(a)
Maintenance of litter receptacles. To facilitate the proper disposal of litter, all litter receptacles provided by commercial businesses and institutions for the use of public patrons shall be well-maintained and regularly emptied. The types of businesses and institutions required to meet this provision include but are not limited to, fast-food outlets, shopping centers, convenience stores, supermarkets, service stations, commercial parking lots, motels, hospitals, schools, government facilities, and public transportation facilities.
(b)
Placing materials into receptacles. A person or persons placing litter, including household garbage and recyclables, in public receptacles or in authorized private receptacles, shall do so in such a manner as to prevent it from being carried or deposited by the elements upon any public or private property.
