§ 154-241. Installation, location, and maintenance of monitoring manhole.

  • (a)

    When required by the commissioner, industrial users shall install a suitable monitoring manhole on the building sewers on their property to facilitate observation, sampling, and measurement of wastewaters. The manhole, when required, shall be accessibly and safely located and shall be constructed in accordance with plans approved by the commissioner. The manhole shall be installed by the industrial user at their expense and shall be so maintained by the industrial users as to be safe and accessible at all times.

    (b)

    It shall be unlawful for any industrial user to discharge, or cause or allow to be discharged, any industrial wastewater which bypasses or does not flow through the monitoring manhole, unless discharged through a NPDES permitted facility or disposed of off site at a licensed disposal facility.
