§ 114-527. Process of progressive discipline.

  • Prior to application of any disciplinary action permitted by this division, the following shall be met:

    (1)

    Orientation. During the probationary period all employees shall be informed of their job duties and the rules, regulations and standards that apply to them. At a minimum, this should include an initial orientation to the job and the organization.

    (2)

    Course of action when rule or standard is violated.

    a.

    Duty to promptly investigate violation. The manager or supervisor shall promptly investigate the facts and circumstances of the incident before deciding on the disciplinary action to be taken.

    b.

    Determination of appropriate disciplinary action. The reasonable disciplinary action shall be determined by considering relevant factors, including but not limited to the seriousness of the offense, whether the offense was willful and deliberate, unintentional or the result of gross negligence and the employee's record of performance and conduct.
