§ 10-56. Issuance to persons with prior convictions.

No original license for the sale of alcoholic beverages shall be issued to any person,
partnership or corporation for pecuniary gain if any individual having an interest,
either as owner, partner or principal stockholder, directly or indirectly beneficial
or absolute, or the individual's spouse shall have been convicted or shall have taken
a plea of nolo contendere, within ten years immediately prior to the filing of the
application, for any felony or misdemeanor of any state or of the United States or
any municipal ordinance, except traffic violations. The term "conviction" includes
an adjudication of guilt or a plea of guilty or nolo contendere or the forfeiture
of a bond when charged with a crime; if the violation is for a misdemeanor, forfeiture
of bond, municipal ordinance or if there is a plea of nolo contendere, the license
review board may, after investigation, waive that disqualification.
